Product Overview

The P68X backbox series is designed for recessed installation of 8" speaker systems into ceilings or walls. The backbox measures 10" square and is available in two depths (4"D or 6"D). Model ULP68X is 4”D and is part of UL 1480 5th Edition Listed Fire Protective Signaling Speaker Series ULD and ULS. The backbox is precision formed and welded heavy gauge unitized steel. The sides include 1/2" - 3/4" compound knockouts for conduit. Backbox models P68X and P68X-6 also feature two sides with parallel slots (2.688"L on 7” centers) to facilitate depth adjustment in areas where the ceiling/wall surface varies in material, depth, or evenness. The slots may also be used for attaching channel rails when the backbox is installed in suspended tile ceilings. Backbox corners feature a recessed, die-formed mounting tab with 8-32 screw retaining U-clip for grille installation. Recessed clip position assures protection and easy accessibility in plaster or poured concrete applications. Backbox is finished in durable black powder epoxy, undercoated, and lined with a foam pad to eliminate acoustic and mechanical resonance.
