Sony SMAD-P3D Dual Channel Multi Interface Shoe Adapter

Sony's SMAD-P3D is a dedicated shoe-mount adapter used for connecting the UWP-D series of wireless microphone package’s two-channel UHF synthesized diversity tuner (URX-P03D) to a camera. The adapter supports video camera recorders and interchangeable-lens digital cameras from Sony and other Sony cameras equipped with multi-interface shoes.

The 2-channel wireless receiver URX-P03D can be attached to camcorders or interchangeable-lens cameras that have an MI (Multi-Interface) shoe using the 2-channel MI shoe adapter SMAD-P3D. This eliminates the need for connecting cables. By using the MI shoe adapter, audio signals can be transmitted from the wireless receiver to a camera. In addition, the wireless receiver can get power from the camera, and the camera can control power ON/OFF, unifying power management.

This adapter is compatible with the following Sony cameras:

• The SMAD-P3D is designed for use with the URX-P03D, which supports 2-channel reception. When connecting the URX-P03 1-channel receiver to a camera, use the SMAD-P3.
• When used in conjunction with some camera models, operation of the power supply function and the power ON/OFF control function is not guaranteed. Insert new AA alkaline batteries in the receiver, and set the receiver’s power select (PWR SOURCE) menu item to BATT ONLY mode. When using other modes, the camera may shut down unexpectedly and data may be lost depending on the operating conditions.

Applications

Using accessories together with the camera on which a receiver is connected via this unit allows simple and effective shooting that suits your situation:

• Wirelessly transfer audio signals from the receiver to the camera.
• Provide power from the camera to the receiver via settings on the receiver.
• Power supply automatically switches to power from the camera when batteries are not inserted in the receiver. In such cases, on/off switching of the receiver’s power is linked to that of the camera.
