Product Overview

A directional headset microphone with legendary DPA quality and reliability, the 4488 series gives you the flexibility you want and the world-class audio you deserve. The 4488-DC-R-10 comes pre-wired with a mini XLR connector for body-pack connection.

A directional pickup pattern makes the 4488 ideal for spoken word and vocal performance applications that require the microphone placement to be within 1 inch of the source. Even in high SPL situations, the 4488 provides excellent rejection of sound originating from the back and sides. As with all directional mics, the bass response increases as the element is brought in closer proximity to the source. DPA has tuned the bass response to eliminate this which also improves the rejection of background noise.

The secure, durable, and flexible 4488 headset features a one-size-fits-all design with adjustable frame size, boom length, and placement with a comfortable 3-point ear grip. The stainless steel frame comes in three finishes and the sleek profile makes it unobtrusive whether you choose beige, brown, or black. The non-reflective PVD surface was also designed to keep the focus where it belongs, on the performer. However, the included pop/windscreen may need to be used as the nature of directional microphones is an increased sensitivity to wind and pop noise.

The boom arm can be extended, shortened, and even pivoted up and down at a fixed point below the ear, eliminating the need to bend the boom. Plus, the entire boom can be detached and moved from one side of the frame to the other.

A cable guide at the back of the headset means you can easily hide the cable or even move it from side to side to remove it from a camera profile view. The rugged 1.6mm cable is Kevlar reinforced to withstand all that repeated performances can demand.

A water-repellent nano-coating on the cover and housing plus a hermetically sealed amplifier earned the 4488 an IP58 ingress rating so sweat, moisture, and dust will never get in the way of the performance.
