The T50K is an impedance transformer that allows a low impedance microphone (100-600 Ohms) to be connected to a high impedance input (10k-50k Ohms).

The unit I received was defective. The continuity would go on and off by bending the wire back and forth. Evidently a break in the conductor inside the insulation. Very disappointing! I hope to resolve the situation. Will comment again after I contact customer service.
