The GXL1800SP bundle combines the GXL1800 large-diaphragm condenser and GXL800 small-diaphragm condenser mics to create a reasonably priced way to add versatility to your studio or mobile recording rig.

With its cardioid pickup pattern, the GXL1800 rejects sound from the back and sides to deliver full, focused audio, whether your recording vocals, acoustic instruments, or guitar amps. Displaying both low sensitivity and self-noise, the 1800 can capture even the most dynamic instruments and performers. With a max SPL (sound pressure level) rating of 124 dB, you can use the GXL1800 at medium distance on drums to pick up the attack as well as the body, adding "thwack", for a drum sound that'll sit perfectly in any mix.

Small diaphragm condensers like the GXL800 are better at capturing transients (the initial peak of a sound), and generally have a flat frequency response, resulting in an uncolored, well-imaged recording. These characteristics make the GXL800 the choice for close-miking acoustic guitars to capture the pick on the string, but not add muddy low end.

Experimentation is wide open with this bundle. Double mic a guitar cabinet to see which is best or blend them to create the perfect tone. Point one at the neck and one at the body of an acoustic guitar. This will allow you to capture the transients and mix in the lows to taste, let your ears guide you.
