Product Overview

If you're an installer or audio engineer and not an IT expert, Yamaha developed the SWP2 series of network switches to make your life easier.

Today's audio production relies increasingly on network integration to tie systems together and deliver high-quality content. Yamaha's SWP2-10MMF is a 10 gigabit Dante ready network switch designed to get a network up and running, and keep it that way with minimal effort, so you can get back to the task at hand.

The SWP2-10MMF is a multi-mode fiber design that supports transmission over distances of up to 300m (900ft), and with 10-gigabit optical support, you'll have all the bandwidth you need to operate your network at 96kHz over that distance. And as your network grows, the SWP2 series allows a Dante optimized setup to be recalled by simply flipping one DIP switch. No expertise or training is required.

Network reliability is especially crucial in live sound applications where interruptions aren't tolerated. With this in mind, Yamaha designed the SWP2 with reliable ethercon jacks instead of conventional RJ45 connectors, leaving you with one less thing to worry about. Speaking of reliability, these units feature a locking AC connector to combat accidental disconnection. An optional redundant XLR type DC power supply (sold separately) is also available to guard against AC supply problems.

Data isolation through the use of three separate VLAN presets allows for efficient handling of multiple services at once like Dante communication, digital mixer, and power amp control. By creating virtual networks for these functions, the SWP2 eliminates interference, leaving you with a stable reliable audio network. The presets can be selected via a front panel DIP switch and can be customized if desired by switching to user mode.

A dedicated Yamaha LAN monitor application for Windows provides a comprehensive single-screen view giving you "network visibility" of all necessary parameters when used with SWP/SWR series switches. You can even take a snapshot of your preferred status and set an alarm to warn you if any of the parameters change so that problems can be identified and resolved quickly and easily.
