Arturia's SQ80 V is a classic '80s wavetable digital synthesizer emulation based on the venerable Ensoniq SQ-80. The SQ-80 was an analog-digital hybrid synth that came out just as analog synthesis was integrating digital technology. The result was a keyboard that embodied the benefits and quirks of both technologies and the SQ80 V captures both strikingly.

In addition to offering sine, saw, and square waveforms to tweak, the SQ80 V includes complex shapes such as bells, voices, and pianos. You can also manipulate transients such as ‘click’ and ‘chiff’ to create one-of-a-kind virtual instrument sounds. Paying homage to the SQ-80s heritage as an early workstation, the SQ80 V features a collection of one-shot drum voices.

Complete with the audible looping on some waves, digital aliasing, and noise that was standard at the time, the SQ80 V brings the gritty character so often missing from modern too clean virtual synths directly to your desktop.
