Working in concert with legendary Artist Steve Gadd, Yamaha has uplifted the iconic Recording Custom Series with newer, improved design elements, offering a more focused and refined sound with enhanced deeper, and rounder tone. The 6-Ply 100% North American Birch shells feature 30-degree bearing edges complimented by a newly redesigned weighted Hi Tension Lug that enriches the lower frequencies. The result is an easy-to-play and easy-to-tune drum set that redefines the classic signature sound and is suitable for all drumming styles. Along with their punchy power, birch shells are also known for reducing unwanted noise as well as preventing interference when shells are set up side-by-side. Birch wood's unique sonic characteristics ensure that each stroke is clearly defined, making it widely considered to be the ideal choice for use in recording environments. The Y.E.S.S. tom mounts minimize contact between the shell and the mount to deliver a wider dynamic range with longer sustain and easier drum placement and head changes.
