Lectrosonics' SMWB, part of their “WB” series of SM transmitters, is a wideband transmitter that's designed to meet the demand for both extended operating range as well as extended battery life, it offers selectable output power of 25, 50, and 100 mW. Higher power output means improved operating range is at the expense of battery life. When range is not a concern, a lower power level can be employed in order to extend battery life.
It uses audible tones for hands-free setup and adjustment, and can be put to sleep in order to conserve battery power during setup - perhaps while buried inside costuming or some such - then can be awakened for normal operation when it's time for the production to start. Additional features include an adjustement for input gain in 1 dB increments over a 44 dB range, plus adjustable low frequency roll-off for 3 dB down points at 35, 50, 70, 100, 120, or 150 Hz in order to control audio content at subsonic and very low frequencies.
Its DSP-based design is suitable for working with all Digital Hybrid receivers, and it's backward-compatible for use with Lectrosonics 200 and 100 Series, IFB receivers and some 3rd-party manufacturers' analog receivers, in addition to its native Digital Hybrid Wireless® operating mode.
And on top of all that, instead of transmitting, it can also be used as a standalone recorder. The industry standard .wav (BWF) file format is supported by essentially any audio or video editing software.
NOTE: The transmitting and recording functions CANNOT be performed simultaneously. Users must choose either to transmit or record.
