Product Overview

The DPA Microphones 4099-DC-2-201-D, designed for Extreme SPL, accurately captures the booming sounds of drums as well as percussion instruments. It can be easily positioned to fit different types of drums. The flexible gooseneck allows positioning at different angles to provide a variety of sound nuances. The mic is elegant, lightweight, unobtrusive, and designed to stay out of the way during performances; users should appreciate how gently this condenser mic adheres to their prized instrument.

Additionally, its mounting mechanism makes it easy to move it between different instruments, and it includes a revolutionary ‘90°’ system that offers a wide variety of mounting options. Detaching the clip from the gooseneck and re-mounting it – turned 90° – doubles the number of mic positions available. This mic can be easily combined with a wide variety of additional accessories as well (sold separately). For the bass drum, the d:vote™ VC4099 clip (sold separately) is designed to perfectly fit on the rim.

The standard gooseneck length is 5.5" (140mm), although it can be altered using the optional gooseneck extension unit (sold separately), adding another 50% to the length, and helping to locate the instrument's exact "sweet spot".

The 4099 range features a detachable cable from the gooseneck, providing more convenience for mounting the mic on an instrument before connecting it. Furthermore, the choice of different cable qualities makes it possible to tailor your mic to the specific situation, such as choosing the heavy-duty 2.2mm cable for PA/Live gigs, or the easier-to-hide, thinner, miniature cabling for personal mounting on instruments where the cable weight may interfere with-and impede-your performance. And in case of a cable failure, service is quick and easy. Also featured is a MicroDot cable termination which opens the door for use with many leading wireless mic systems using a range of available adapters (adapters sold separately). These adapters provide you with flexible, simple, and affordable possibilities; no longer are you bound to one wireless system – as your circumstances change, you can just swap your adapter, rather than incurring the cost of a whole new microphone. And when you make the switch, you won't hear any loss or change in sound quality.

From pianissimo to forte, you'll experience clear open sound, with minimized distortion and increased dynamic range. the 4099-DC-2-201-D captures everything

from the ‘highest of the highs to the ‘lowest of the lows,’ further distancing these mics from their competitors.

I love this microphone because it works so well and brings out the true character of every instrument on which I choose to use it. Whether it is the toms, snare or even the kick (pro tip: place it in the rear of the drum near the beater) it just works! I have also used this mic on horns, congas, bongos, piano and violin and have never been disappointed in its performance.

Ahhh, the 4099. So many wonderful things to say. I have used this mic in a variety of situations, including micing Lizzo's flute, Micing Toms, Micing Violins, Violas, Cellos and more! The 4099 was my first DPA mic, and for many people that's the case. Because of its SUPER tight Cardoid pattern pick up this mic is excellent for close micing. This is the GOLD standard in mics for micing acoustic instruments in particular, but excellent on any discreet micing scenario!

The DPA CORE 4099 on drums and percussion is absolutely amazing! I'm able to get a very natural sound with minimal EQ. The mounting system is great and for low profile it just doesn't get better than this. But best of all is the sound and being able to get a huge sound with vey little EQ. This mic is great both on the stage and in the studio for so many things and the extreme SPL with CORE is a huge WOW factor! Whether on stage at the church or in the stadium these rock!
