Product Overview

The DPA Microphones d:fine 4166 is a flexible miniature microphone solution that features very quick and easy adjustment possibilities. This particular model [4166-OL-F-C10-LE] comes with a TA4F Mini-XLR adapter which connects to its integral MicroDot connector, which in turn provides wireless mic adapter interchangeability (please refer to "Adapter System Flexibility" section below).

The d:fine 4166 combines the legendary sound of the d:fine 4066 Omnidirectional Capsule with a lightweight and flexible earset system. This condenser mic is easy and fast to adjust and it offers clean, transparent sound quality with lots of headroom. The capsule itself is the same type as the d:fine 4066, but is attached to an interchangeable boom arm. Like all d:fine microphones, the 4166 Omnidirectional Earset Mic offers accurate, natural voice intelligibility and very high SPL capabilites.

The sensitivity is 6mV/Pa to match the level of the human voice to the general input sensitivity of most wireless transmitters. The noise floor of the Type 4166 is 26 dB(A) re. 20 µPa and if powered correctly the microphone will be able to handle sound pressure levels up to 144 dB SPL before clipping occurs. A wide range of connection adapters makes it possible to use the 4166 with most of the professional wireless systems available plus 48 V phantom XLR connection.

With wireless adapters for wireless systems available from from DPA (sold separately), you get simple, affordable, and flexible options to use with the MicroDot termination. No longer are you bound to one single wireless system. So as your circumstances change, you can just swap your adapter instead of having to incur the cost of purchasing a completely new mic. And of course, after you make the switch, you won't hear any loss or other altering of sound quality.

The d:fine series of miniature microphones is designed to work with all leading wireless mic solutions via the appropriate adapter, including Lectrosonics, Sennheiser, Shure, Sony, Wisycom, Zaxcom, and many more (all transmitters as well as adapters are sold separately). DPA Microphones' adapter system is one of a kind in the industry. It protects your investment in superb sound for years to come.
