The LD Systems CURV 500® PES is a Power Extension Set that's the right choice when an existing CURV 500 Entertainer Set (sold separately) needs to be upgraded because, as an example, more power is needed in the bass range. The portable array system is then converted into a Power Set. Visually aligned with the award-winning CURV 500® design, the Extension set comes with an Extension Subwoofer, 4 array satellites, a SmartLink® Adapter, a distance bar, and speaker cable, but does not provide a mixer. 300 watts RMS and 1200 watts peak for the bass reproduction provide for substantial punch in the bass range. The 4 satellites rely on a power amplifier with 160 watts RMS or 640 watts Peak. The Class D power amplifiers with switching power supply provide the necessary power.
The 4 interlocking satellites are operated using a SmartLink® adapter, and the elements, only 12 x 12cm in size, include LD System's proprietary WaveAhead® technology. One 4" and three 1" drivers deliver a coherent, extremely detailed playback with high pressure and dynamics.
The 10-inch woofer is housed within the black bass-reflex plywood cabinet measuring 325 x 383 x 491mm with PA-protective coating, weighs 16.5 kg, and so is easily transported via 3 ergonomically-shaped handles. Along with a DSP-based multiband limiter, onboard protection circuits prevent short-circuits, overheating or overloading, and provide safe operation assurance. Humming noises caused by variations in the earthing potentials can be avoided by engaging the convenient ground lift function. The subwoofer's integrated M20 threaded flange offers a firm hold to the adjustable distance bar, and the built-in locking mechanism secures the array satellites against unwanted rotating. The system cabling is achieved with the 5-pin XLR input; an additional subwoofer can also be connected to its 5-pin XLR output socket as well.
