Product Overview

A classic returns! Neumann has reissued the legendary U 67 – the microphone that defined the sound of the '60s. This tube mic is considered a studio standard – the quintessential workhorse mic that helped shape the sound of modern music. It was also the first mic to address modern recording techniques like close miking, with its switchable low-cut filter to provide compensation for the proximity effect that occurs at short recording distances. Even To this day, many top-grade professional engineers would select the U 67 as their only microphone of choice for its unrivaled smooth sound and remarkable versatility. And now it's back. It's sonically identical to the original U 67, made ca. 1960-1971, based on the original design specifications.

Suitable for any Recording Task

It features 3 selectable polar patterns – omni-directional, cardioid, and figure-of-8 – as well as advanced tube circuitry, and low-cut and pad switches, so it's well-equipped for virtually any recording task. Sound-wise, it delivers a smooth top-end, with a subtle tube "shimmer" that makes it an outstanding vocal microphone both for male and female voices, and thanks to its essentially linear response within the 3 polar patterns, it's also a very versatile microphone that likewise works great for use with all kinds of instruments including strings, woodwinds, brass, piano, drums, acoustic and electric guitar, electric bass, upright bass, and more.
