Product Overview

Apogee's SYM2-8X8S2-A8MP-SG is a part of their Symphony I/O Mk II system series; this particular model is a Symphony I/O MKII Chassis that's Waves SoundGrid-Compatible, and includes an 8x8 Analog I/O + 8x8 AES/OP I/O + 8 Mic Pre Amp Module, with both expansion slots populated (with cards shown below, in "Specifications" section). It provides 16 simultaneous channels of I/O.

Ultimate Sound Quality Meets Powerful DSP Enabled Networking

Symphony I/O Mk II's industry-leading sound quality can easily be connected to your computer, shared between multiple rooms and/or multiple computers, plus it can be supercharged with almost infinite real-time DSP power with Waves SoundGrid servers – all via a simple ethernet connection. Symphony I/O Mk II SoundGrid can seamlessly integrate with all DAWs, providing you with endless possibilities and choices for every size of setup for studio, live sound, and post-production workflows.

Symphony I/O Mk II 8-Channel Mic Preamp Module

This mic preamp module features 8 uniquely-designed channels that include Apogee's Advanced Stepped Gain Architecture™, providing a dynamically-optimized circuit that delivers superior bandwidth, ultra-low noise, and simply nonexistent distortion – all across an unprecedented 0-85 dB gain range. So whether you're recording powerful drums, delicate strings, or dynamic vocals, your recordings will retain the intricate detail, lifelike dimension, and full impact of the original performance.

It also includes 8 channels of digitally-controlled analog inserts, meaning that outboard processors such as EQ and compression can be effortlessly inserted into the signal path between the mic preamp and the A/D conversion stage. And because they're digitally-controlled using integrated Symphony Control software, any insert can be assigned to any input channel with no need to reconnect your outboard equipment physically to a different insert channel.

The Apogee Symphony I/O Mk II Series

A multi-channel audio interface that features Apogee's flagship AD/DA conversion process, Symphony I/O Mk II also comes equipped with modular I/O (up to 32 inputs and outputs), as well as intuitive touchscreen display, and optional world-class microphone preamps (preamps available separately). The ultimate music production centerpiece for any modern studio, it's engineered to provide professional sound quality for audio recording, mixing, and mastering. The Symphony I/O Mk II comes with direct connectivity to one of 3 different platforms – Thunderbolt™, Pro Tools® HD or Waves SoundGrid network (this particular product supports the Waves SoundGrid network; Thunderbolt & Pro Tools HD configurations are sold separately).

There's a Symphony I/O Mk II solution that's best for everyone. From home or project studios, on up to commercial recording studios and scoring stages. You can choose from 4 base I/O configurations – 2×6, 8×8, 16×16, or 8×8 – with 8 mic preamps, then easily expand your setup along with your studio as it grows. The Symphony I/O Mk II offers the best per-channel value of any interface in its category with two module slots and the capacity for up to 32 inputs and outputs of A/D & D/A conversion per unit.
