Yamaha, working in concert with legendary Artist Steve Gadd, Yamaha has uplifted the iconic Recording Custom Series with newer, improved design elements, offering a more focused and refined sound with enhanced deeper and rounder tone. All the 6-Ply North American Birch shells with 30 Degree Bearing Edges are complimented by a newer redesigned weighted Hi Tension Lug that enriches lower frequencies. The result is an easy-to-play and easy-to-tune drum set that's redefining the classic signature sound, and is suitable for all styles of drumming in every situation.

Along with their punchy power, birch shells are also known for reducing unwanted noise as well as preventing interference when shells are set up side-by-side. Birch wood's unique sonic characteristics ensure that each stroke is clearly defined, making it widely considered to be the ideal choice for use in recording environments.
