Audio-Technica AT5047 Transformer-Coupled Cardioid Condenser Microphone

A premier studio microphone equally at home capturing vocals as well as musical instruments, the AT5047 boasts a remarkably wide dynamic range – the greatest among the full line of Audio-Technica microphones. Hand-built and individually inspected for 100% quality control, it reproduces the full, expressive character of a sound source, no matter how loud or how soft. And since it's equipped with a transformer-coupled output, the mic maintains a constant load output impedance, even when capturing sources at extreme SPLs (sound pressure levels), resulting in a stable relationship between the mic and mic preamp or console input.

This exceptional mic includes a 4-part rectangular element that was originally developed for the AT5040 (available separately). These 4 exquisitely-matched ultra-thin diaphragms function together (with outputs proprietarily summed) to make Audio-Technica's largest-ever element, offering a combined surface area twice that of a standard 1-inch circular diaphragm. By using four diaphragms in a single capsule, the AT5047 delivers the benefits of an especially-large diaphragm – along with an extremely low noise floor – without added weight, decreased transient response or other drawbacks that typically restrict diaphragm size. Additionally, it incorporates the AT5040's advanced internal shock-mounting design, which effectively decouples the capsule from the microphone body.

Its discrete components have been selected for optimized performance, with every aspect of the mic carefully considered to minimize any effects on the audio signal.
