Cinematic film making demands quick setup and a variety of camera configurations. The DJI Ronin-MX has been engineered to carry many of the cameras used daily on film and video sets worldwide, and its SmoothTrack™ algorithms ensure smooth movement in every configuration. A camera cage that locks mounted cameras in place at the top and at the bottom provides enhanced stability, and silent motors prevent on-set mics from picking up motor noise.
Made to resist high G-forces using IMUs and powerful motors, the Ronin-MX is engineered to maintain stability and hold horizon when mounted to a vehicle or aircraft. When it's mounted to the M600 aerial system (sold separately), it communicates directly with DJI’s flight controller. When attached to vehicles, it connects to an optional GPS module (sold separately), allowing it to actively stabilize, delivering a smoother shot.
A slip ring lets the Ronin-MX continuously rotate 360° when mounted to vehicles or aircraft, which can then open up more creative options for shooters. This is further enhanced by a tilt axis range from 90° straight down and beyond to 135°. Popular features of the Ronin series, such as the 3 modes of operation and SmoothTrack™ are also present, offering film makers a variety of creative movements and angles.
The Ronin-MX comes with support for Lightbridge 2, providing long-range HD video transmission from air to ground from up to 3.1miles (5km) away. If combined with the optional DJI Focus and Focus Expansion Module (both sold separately), focus or aperture can also be remotelyh pulled with the twist of the wrist. An optional Remote Start/Stop add-on (sold separately) provides the shooting control shooting on a range of airborne cameras.
DJI Assistant as well as the dedicated Assistant app for iOS and Android offer complete customization of the Ronin-MX and its behavior. If connected to Lightbridge 2, DJI's GO app can be used to control how the M600 flies, including Intelligent Flight Modes and remote control modes, along with moving the gimbal and the ability to view an HD live feed from the camera.
The Ronin-MX's battery location is designed to assist with centering of the weight of the camera, thus minimizing instability when flying directly forwards, also dramatically increasing the Ronin-MX's agility and ability to handle rapid movements or high-G situations.
Extensively built from lightweight magnesium, the Ronin-MX weighs in at just 6.11 lbs (2.77kg). This lightness allows for mounting to the M600 even when equipped with such advanced cameras as the RED EPIC, and to vehicles, while offering minimum impact on vehicle handling.
