The Akai MPD218 is the next-generation MPD2 Series pad controller that takes what made the original MPD series great, and adds over six years of customer research and user feedback to create a refined, capable, and user-friendly pad controller that is great for producers, musicians, DJs, and programmers alike. This MIDI-over-USB controller features 16 ultra-sensitive Thick Fat MPC pads, along with six knobs with three banks for an extensive control section for manipulating effects and other parameters. Since the MPD218 is plug-and-play, it can connect to a Mac- or Windows-based PC without the need for any additional drivers, and the USB connection provides power to the unit as well so there is no need for an additional power supply. The MPD218 also sports iOS compatibility via the Apple Camera Connection Kit (sold separately) so it can be used with Akai's iMPC Pro app, or use it with your favorite music app to take your mobile productions to the next level. This controller also comes with an excellent suite of free software to get you started on the right foot, including Akai Pro MPC Essentials, Big Bang Drums and Big Bang Cinema from Sonivox, Ableton Live Lite, and Software Preset Editor.
