Digital Director is the only Apple Certified interface that helps you to intuitively manage the entire photo and video workflow via a tethered iPad solution with Canon and Nikon DSLR cameras. This one of a kind product will revolutionize the way photographers and videographers operate their entire workflow; from the setup to taking the shot and all the way though post production and sharing thanks to the Apple Certified Interface. This version of Digital Director - the MVDDA14 - is intended for use with the iPad Air 2 model.
Digital Director was designed to make shooting photos and video simple. Using up to a 10-meter (32 foot) USB cable, you have a totally reliable high-performance connection beetween your Canon or Nikon DSLR and iPad that is always stable. Digital Director also enables you to place the camera even in the most awkward or difficult to reach positions and conveniently control it remotely. Now you can control the key camera parameters such as the exposure, ISO, shutter speed, aperture, manual focus, white balance and more all from the iPad. Once all of the parameters are set, feel free to use the interactive focus and digital zoom right on the iPad as well to get the precise focus point of your subject.
The Digital Director takes the weakest part of the camera, the LCD screen, and enlarges it with greater resolution to ensure that every shot you take is spot on. There is also a focus peaking filter which will highlight focused profiles on the image for additional clarity. When you are ready, press the shutter release button on the iPad to take your shots! Then, use the app to take images straight from your camera and instantly download them to view, edit or share via social media or email.
And, Manfrotto now presents the New Digital Director App 2.0, the updated App for Manfrotto’s Digital Director, available on App Store, that brings new and intuitive chances to photographers and videographers who wish to make shooting much smarter. It includes the following new and improved features:
REMOTE CONTROL OF LIGHTS: The New Digital Director App 2.0 does not only control all Nikon and Canon DSLRs key camera functions, but turns the iPad into an innovative interface enabling total remote control up to 13 of Manfrotto LYKOS and Litepanels ASTRA LEDs via Bluetooth®.
FOCUS PEAKING & ZEBRA FILTER: The implemented Focus Peaking Filter presents two options: the possibility to adjust the intensity of the filter and to select the desired color for the peaking (red, blue, green, yellow). In addition, the new Zebra Filter helps to adjust exposure through striped patterns that indicate the overexposed and/or underexposed areas of the image.
INTUITIVE POST PRODUCTION IMAGE ADJUSTMENT: The new App 2.0 offers new tools for post production: cropping free or with proportion, blur and saturation. Together with the existing functions (rotate, contrast, light, checking histogram and EXIF information), it may also allow you to make final adjustments on the image in just a single touch of your finger on the iPad screen.
Additional cameras and gear shown are sold separately. For more information on this and other products, contact your Sales Pro.

Works as it should with my 5DIV, it seems though you’re restricted to live-view mode, with no over-ride of any of hardware dials in camera (besides aperature and shutter speed) so you can not seamless go from shooting still to shooting video via this control. It is estially just makes your iPad a proxy of the touch screen on the 5DIV which is not a bad thing at all. This is a great solution if you have an iPad around and would like an external monitor with some limited remote capabilities.
