Product Overview

Loaded with 16 Mackie Onyx preamps and 16 high-headroom/low-noise line inputs, the 1604VLZ4 delivers clear, crisp audio reproduction in a versatile, reliable, and portable package.

The 1604VLZ4 is a great board for budget and home studios. All 16 channels feature a 3 band equalizer (EQ) with selectable midrange frequency for enhancing signals or correcting problems. You get four full-featured auxiliary sends per channel that can be used to create separate headphone mixes, or when coupled with the stereo returns, to add whole mix compression. There are also 16 balanced channel inserts so you can connect your favorite compressors, gates or effects units. Another studio friendly feature is the control room source matrix that lets you choose to listen to any of four different sources through the console's control room stereo outputs. If you have an 8 track recorder simply hook the direct outputs of channels 1-8 to the recorder inputs, and the recorder outputs to the channel 1-9 inputs on the 1604 for an elegant slpit-monitor set up. All 16 channels have phantom power so you can use condenser microphones, while Low-cut filters on those channels help reduce low-frequency noise the more sensitive condensers often pick up.

With a rack-mountable design and rugged steel chassis built to handle load-ins and load-outs, the 1604 also shines in a live setting. An additional stereo bus is included so it's possible to create a submix of your drum channels allowing two fader control of the entire kit. Sealed rotary controls make sure the unavoidable dirt, dust, and road grime won't affect your console.

The 1642 is engineered to provide a high degree of radio frequency (RF) rejection making it a good fit for Broadcasting applications. So whether for the studio, live performance or both, the flexible Mackie 1604VLZ4 is a solid choice.
