This unit worked well for our special effect of lights rays projecting up through haze. Heavier haze (fog) looks better than light haze. The problem we ran into was when powering down our DMX controller the Snowball would go into a preset mode. I emailed Blizzard and they sent me instructions to have the ball go black if no DMX sig is present: the unit needs the SLAVE mode to be active. This is in the MENU settings. Once you select that and go back to ADDR, it will only respond to DMX commands
