Gefen EXT-DVI-EDIDN DVI Detective

When displays are switched away or disconnected and then subsequently reconnected, EDID information can be lost, which can cause the computer to then lose the ability to display the image properly. That's where Gefen's EXT-DVI-EDIDN DVI Detective comes in. This useful device solves this problem by memorizing the EDID information. It accomplishes this thru a simple programmming process. Once it has the display's EDID memorized, it can then be placed over the output of the computer's video port, where it fools the computer into recognizing that a display is present, even when the display is switched away to another computer.

While this unit works with both DVI-D and VGA formats, it does NOT convert analog VGA to DVI or vice versa.
