The Bose Professional ControlSpace CC-16 zone controller is a wall-mounted device that is provides end-users with control over ControlSpace systems. Custom programming allows the CC-16 to control a variety of system elements, from switching remote audio sources to selecting "scenes" or system configurations. The CC-16 features a bitmap LCD and four buttons for displaying and controlling the system settings.

The CC-16 is a RS-485 device wired directly to a ControlSpace ESP-88 engineered sound processor. The zone controller, along with the ControlSpace CC-64 control center and passive controls like potentiometers and switches, allow ControlSpace systems to meet the end-user needs in most installations.

The CC-16 is programmed – linking or mapping signal processing objects to its controls – using the ControlSpace Designer software. The software includes Smart Simulation, a virtual CC-16 display where all programming can immediately be verified on-screen – without being connected to the hardware. Smart Simulation facilitates working with end-users to refine the user controls before the installation is even started.

When multiple CC-16s are used in a system there are times, such as in room-combining applications, where more than one unit is programmed to control the same zone, for example when a separate rooms are combined. Because the CC-16s controls are "soft", that is, they are not physically tied to a certain state like a mechanical volume control, multiple "ganged" CC-16s will all display the correct volume and selection for that combined zone.

Customizable on-screen wording on the CC-16 provides easier system operation for a wide range of applications, including houses of worship, auditoriums, schools and universities, and ballrooms.
