Earthworks' SR30

A cleanly directional condenser microphone, the SR30 delivers an accurate, uncolored, natural sounding representation of the sound source toward which you point it. At 6 inches in length, it maintains pretty much all of the "being there" quality of Earthworks' omnis. It features on-axis performance that's smooth and open, and its sonic timbre is uniform across the entire front hemisphere of pick up. What you point it at is what you'll hear...and not much else.

On-axis, its frequency response is flat from 30 Hz to 30 kHz at 15cm; closer than that and there's a little more bass, at ambient distances there's a bit less. It features an impulse response that's fast and smooth, it can handle quite hot signals, and it has very low handling pickup. For recording applications the mic's superb sound quality and uncolored directionality are invaluable.

It delivers superior performance for a wide range of real-world sources, especially guitar, sax, flute, drums and voice. Concert tapers also seem to love it. It's rugged enough for high-quality sound reinforcement, with no peaks to encourage feedback and rear rejection that's unusually good. The SR30 is a powerful tool for broadcast and vocal production applications where its lifelike clarity and audio detail enhance communication through realism.
