700MHz/DTV Issue Explained

In the United States, TV stations have been reassigned to new channels outside of the 700MHz (698 - 806MHz) band to free that block of frequencies for other services. Much of the 700MHz band has been auctioned off to commercial enterprises. A very large number of UHF wireless microphone systems were set up to operate in that band of frequencies and now they must also vacate those frequencies to avoid creating interference to the new services that will be operating there.
