New Wireless Mics for Old - Generous Trade-Ins & Rebates for your Old Wireless Microphone Systems

700MHz/DTV Issue Explained | Full Compass Trade-In

700MHz/DTV Issue Explained

In the United States, TV stations have been reassigned to new channels outside of the 700MHz (698 - 806MHz) band to free that block of frequencies for other services. Much of the 700MHz band has been auctioned off to commercial enterprises. A large number of UHF wireless microphone systems were set up to operate in the 700MHz band, and they will be impacted in several ways due to this change.

Once new services are launched on 700MHz channels, it is unlikely that wireless microphone systems operating within that frequency range will function properly. This will vary depending on location, with urban areas being affected to a greater degree as they will be the first areas these services are launched in, as well as there being a higher concentration of users.

In addition to performance issues, the FCC may simply outlaw any use of the 700MHz band to provide unobstructed use for the companies who have paid to use the spectrum. The FCC had proposed that wireless microphone operations in the 700MHz band cease in February 2009, but a final transition date has not been announced.

CONSUMER ALERT:

Most users do not need a license to operate this wireless microphone system. Nevertheless, operating this microphone system without a license is subject to certain restrictions: the system may not cause harmful interference; it must operate at a low power level (not in excess of 50 milliwatts); and it has no protection from interference received from any other device.

Purchasers should also be aware that the FCC is currently evaluating use of wireless microphone systems, and these rules are subject to change. For more information, call the FCC at 1-888-CALL-FCC (TTY: 1-888-TELL-FCC) or visit the FCC's wireless microphone website at www.fcc.gov/cgb/wirelessmicrophones

Now is the time to upgrade your wireless system.
We are going to make it less expensive for you!

A number of high-quality microphone manufacturers including Audio-Technica, Sennheiser and Shure are offering rebates when you buy certain microphones in their lines and return your old 700MHz (698 - 806MHz) wireless to them, with a proof of purchase form. Rebates range from $20.00 to $2000.00 or 5% to 15% of the purchase price depending on manufacturer and model involved. Although they will all take back other brands, the rebates are more generous for trading their own brand and for higher-end replacement models. These offers are available for customers purchasing on the Full Compass e-commerce site or by calling one of our representatives for quotes, volume purchases, purchase orders and bids.
