Peavey and Muse Research's MuseBox is a software-powered synthesizer, guitar processor, vocal processor, and multi-effects box.  Its completely self-contained, and comes packed with professional virtual instruments and effects like MusePlayer, ReValver HP, MasterVerb 4, MuVoice, TrackPlug 4, CamelSpace, CamelPhat, MuVoice, and many more.  And MuseBox runs all this great software in a custom host environment that is easy-to-use and with exceptionally low-latency performance.

The MuseBox is great for keyboardists, guitarists (electric and acoustic), vocalists, percussionists, and live sound mixers.  If you happen to be a guitarist or keyboardist or percussionist who sings, you'll love the fact that MuseBox can process your guitar while you sing, or play a "killer" piano while your friend plays guitar, or even process two guitars separately and simultaneously.

Features:

  • Completely self-contained and ready to go, right out of the box.  Even a beginner can figure out the easy preset-focused interface.
  • It's software-powered which means its expandable using the rear-panel CF card slot to add new virtual instruments and effects.
  • It's controllable all from the front panel, or you can connect an LCD monitor, mouse and keyboard for full programmability.  You can even program and control it over a network, including wirelessly using an iPad, iPhone, or Android device.
  • It leverages the technology used in RECEPTOR - the industry standard among the world's top touring bands for using virtual instruments and effects live.
  • Its built-in SoundFinder preset feature lets you find the sound or effect you want fast, it is also completely programmable, meaning its users can grow with the product.
  • Over 100dB signal-to-noise ratio and a very flat frequency response
  • It's 2RU high, half-rack width, with a chassis made of steel and a front panel made of die-cast aluminum.
  • Loaded with over 4 GB of sampled sounds, providing richer and more realistic sounds than more expensive keyboards and racks.
  • Features Revalver HP, with 32-bit floating point processing and 24-bit audio I/O.
  • It's dual-core design means you can play an 800MB piano while you run vocal processing or guitar effects with no reduction in performance.
  • Its vast array of presets covers every style of music, from rock to jazz to country to worship music, and all the patches "come alive" thanks to high-resolution sampling and superb software effects processing.

MuseBox's SoundFinder architecture organizes hundreds of presets into simple categories called tags.  SoundFinder lets you simply press the power button, turn the lower knob to select the category (tag) of the sounds or effects you are interested in, and turn the top knob to select the individual preset you want to play.

For the musician who wants to tweak their sounds or effects, the graphical user interface was designed to be familiar.  The presets and their "tags" are all located on the left.  To the right of that are the synths and effects presets that are activated by simply dragging the picture into the center "rack".  The top two "slots" are where the virtual instruments live, and the bottom two "slots" are where the audio input effects live.  To the right of the rack section is the mixer section, which features two assignable insert/send effects slots, and your master volume control.  The user interface will allow any user to go in and tweak a sound to their taste, and save it as a new preset for recall at a gig.

In addition to the two high-quality combi-jacks on the front of the MuseBox for use with guitar or microphone (including 48V phantom power), MuseBox features a complete set of professional inputs and outputs on the back of the unit.  There you'll find the CF card expansion port,  1/4" input and outputs, full-size MIDI input, a footswitch jack for changing patches, 4 USB 2.0 ports, a gigabit Ethernet port, a VGA port, and the power supply input.
