DP25/C

The DP25/C is an Earthworks High Definition Microphone that has been designed for use with snare drums. Its incredibly fast impulse response will allow it to capture the full detail attack, while its short diaphragm settling time will allow you to hear subtle details that you cannot hear using conventional microphones. The DP25/C will handle sound levels up to 145dB SPL with no audible distortion and its heavy construction will enable it to withstand the punishment of the road. They asked if Earthworks could make High Definition Microphones for their snare and toms as well. For two years, Earthworks worked with these high profile drummers in developing and beta testing the new Drum Periscope tom and snare microphones. These new tom and snare mics sound spectacular and are designed to withstand the rigors of the road as well.

The Drum Periscope Series of microphones incorporates a stiff mini-gooseneck that will not move when the drums are hit hard. The microphone capsule housing is designed to protect the microphone capsule and withstand a direct hit from a drumstick. The electronics are housed in a cylindrical tube attached to the other end of the mini-gooseneck and provides a high level, low impedance output that will prevent radio frequency interference. The drum periscope is mounted to the drum rim with the RM1 drum RimMount.

The Drum Periscope microphones can be purchased individually, or in a kit called the CloseMic Kit that will yield savings for those who wish to purchase multiple Drum Periscope microphones. The CloseMic Kits also come in a road worthy high impact case. Drum Periscope microphones are also available in a kit of microphones that will mic the entire drum set that include overhead, hi-hat and kick drum mics called the FullKit System.
