All Publications »Kaltman Creations introduces a new series of PC-based RF spectrum analyzers, specifically designed for the professional audio and video industries. Called Invisible Waves, these new analyzers are touted as the world's first, PC-based RF spectrum analyzers which offer automatic charting of open white space (open RF frequency) for use with wireless microphones, in-ear monitors, remote control, security, access control, etc.
First in the new series, the IW1800 covers the frequency span of 9KHz to 1.8GHz making it ideal for VHF and UHF analysis extending into the lower gigahertz ranges. The software features include split-screen displays, priority monitored frequencies, instant-save custom profiles, logging with date & time stamps, etc.
All system packages include:
Specifications:
FEATURES:
The White Space Finder is an Open Space, Frequency Finder and Calculator. The user simply defines the open space required (bandwidth), the spacing between adjacent channels (band-guard), and a minimum threshold level. The open spaces are then graphically displayed in a priority order of largest open RF spectrum to smallest. It's perfect for locating open frequency space in crowded RF environments, or to help insure proper spacing for frequency coordination.
Monitored Frequencies
The Monitored Frequencies feature provides priority status monitoring of user specified frequencies. Working completely independent of the sweep functions, Monitored Frequencies allows up to 10 frequencies to be custom labeled and viewed in a barograph, relative level format. The user can assign a specific threshold level in dbm, and anytime the signal falls below the threshold, the barograph level falls and changes from the color green to red. It's perfect for monitoring important transmitters such as a lead vocalist's, or to keep tabs on wireless guitars and remote control devices.
Region Of Interest (ROI) Trace View is an adaptation of a Zoom function, where the user can have both a standard sweep screen open, and an important Region Of Interest sweep. This feature allows the user to monitor a general broad RF spectrum range and simultaneously monitor a smaller frequency range. It's perfect for general RF analysis where comparative analysis or the ability to have two sweeps active at the same time is required.
The Heat Map, also called a waterfall graph, provides a color-based visualization of the RF level and activity over time. As signal levels for specific frequencies or frequency ranges increase and decrease, the Heat Map varies its colors. This feature provides a quick glance back into the sweep history to identify aberrations or fluctuation in frequency levels.
SOFTWARE CONTROL PANELS:
The Scan Setting Control Panel allows the user to input specific Start and Stop frequency ranges, and/or a Center Frequency and Span. Based on the frequency span, the user can also choose from a selection of Resolution settings. Selecting the "Enable Peak Scan" enhancement algorithm instructs IW to inspect the results looking for potential peaks and, if any are found, rescans those particular frequencies at a finer resolution in order to obtain a more accurate signal strength reading. Also within this control panel is the user-defined Custom Profiles recall. Simply open the Profile control and use the pull-down feature to provide instant access to the custom set profiles.
The Sensitivity Control Panel allows for the selection of Automatic or Manual Gain Control, RF Input Preamp On/Off and RF Input Attenuation.
The Scaling Threshold setting allows the user to define the scale in dbm. The Scaling control only affects the actual visual display. Also within the Scaling control panel is a Heat Map sensitivity control.
The White Space Finder Control Panel allows the user to define a threshold level, at which lesser signals will be ignored and considered non-interference and non-threatening. The user can input the open space required and the spacing between adjacent channels. There is also a click-on box which calculates and equally spreads-out the open spaces in the chosen spectrum.
The Data Recording Control Panel features a simple, yet powerful, Data Recorder. Recorded data can be reloaded into the software for future evaluation and review. Included in the Data Recording control panel are Start Time, Recording Time, Number of scans recorded and the file size.
