M990-ART

Microtech Gefell's M 990 art is a large diaphragm tube microphone that, because of its vintage sound, is beloved by vocalists and instrumentalists alike.  The mic's high sensitivity, with its associated signal-to-noise ratio, are the result of modern large capsule engineering

The pressure gradient transducer of the M 990 art uses a gold-sputtered PVC membrane based upon established manufacturing technology.  The tube amplifier is a low-noise pentode valve operating in a triode configuration.  The valve is carefully selected for suitability by Microtech Gefell in their own factory to ensure its long-term characteristics.

The M 990 art tube microphone is ideal when used as a spot microphone in orchestral recordings.  The microphone gets its power from the N 920.1 power supply unit, which is designed for mains supplies of 115 V or 230 V, at 50 Hz or 60 Hz.  The heater voltage for the valve is stabilized.  It is recommended that for cable lengths exceeding 50 M between the power supply and the microphone, the heater voltage (which is measured at the microphone) be set to 5.8 V.

The N 920.1 is equipped with an on/off switch, a 7-pin Tuchel connector for the microphone cable, a 3-pin XLR connector for the audio output, and a mains input connector with an integrated mains voltage selector.  The microphone is finished in a low-reflection dark bronze with a pearl-gold plated ring.
