The high-frequency horn (equipped wiht a 1" titanium/fabric dome tweeter) is calculated to achieve a different angle of dispersion vertically than it does horizontally.  The elliptical shape of the HF horn narrows the horizontal dispersion, reducing the early reflections from the console (comb-filter effects). At the same time, the horizontal sweet spot is widened. 

The 5.5" woofer is a new type of cone loudspeaker with a sandwich-membrane that practically eliminates harmonic distortion.  The flux compensation of the woofer also helps reduce distortion dramatically.
