With the increasing usage of DVI-type signals in AV installations, there is a need for a low-cost and easy-to-use DVI signal detector. A DVI signal is transmitted at bit rates exceeding 1.2Gb/s. A special cable is required to transmit these signals long distances and to minimize losses; in many cases the signal can be transmitted only 10-15 ft (3 - 5m). Since many runs are longer than this, special line drivers and equalizers can be used to extend the signal transmission distance 90 to 150ft (30 to 50m).
