Using the AES/EBU input modules, sources such as digital multi-track recorders used for show playback, samplers, and broadcast video playback decks can be combined in the snake with microphone and other sources. The S-4000 offers the benefit of much high quality sound than that found using traditional analog cabline, as it is immune to the high frequency lost inherent in analog cables as well as induced hums and buzzes. With digital inputs, the integrity of the digital signal will be maintained from source to destination.
