Aphex’ Model 240 combines elements of the company’s famous Logic-Assisted and their Easyrider® automatic compressor models in a seamlessly integrated system. When the gate activates, the compressor gain is frozen and prevented from releasing, to avoid the conflict of attempting to raise signal level while the gate attempts to reduce it. Channels may be linked for stereo processing. A rear key insert jack allows line-level inserts to the gate’s threshold detector for applications such as de-essing or keying the gate to an external signal. Other rear panel connections include balanced line level I/O on 1/4” TRS (XLR for mic level), as well as a level selector to choose between –10dBV or +4dBu operation. A front panel multicolored LED bar graph meter displays either peak output level or gain reduction.
