The Low Distortion Oscillator:
A current controlled, state-variable true sine wave oscillator incorporating a fast AGC circuit. Distortion components are typically 0.1% 2nd and 0.05% 3rd which are low order and not audible making the TS2 useful in making listening tests where a function generator would generate undesirable, audible side effects. Full frequency sweeps can be made from 20Hz - 20kHz in a single range. These units have no amplitude changes over the entire frequency range.
The Frequency Counter:
The frequency counter is internally connected to the internal oscillator and displays the oscillator frequency until a signal is plugged into the input connector. It then displays the frequency of the input signal. The frequency counter is disabled below 40dB to avoid induced count errors. Below 10KHz the counter updates mice a second. Above 10KHz it updates ten times per second. This unique combination of Frequency Counter and Audio Oscillator affords absolute precision in setting frequencies.
The dB Meter:
The dB meter is a wideband average responding AC voltmeter. The circuit output is electronically converted to dB for display. Direct reading dB greatly simplifies alignment procedures. The logarithmic nature of decibels eliminate the need for range switches. A reference level of "0dB" is factory set for 0.775v which can be user adjusted +10dB with a rear panel control.
The Impedance Meter
The TS-2 incorporates a compact impedance measuring instrument which, will determine impedances (Z) in the audio frequency range. The TS-2 will read impedances from I ohm to 1000 ohms (versions are available from 1 ohm to 10K ohms), and will read them at frequencies from 20Hz to 27KHz. The TS-2 features a continuously variable sine wave generator that can be tuned in any audio frequency and fed thru a known resistance and into the unknown impedance to be measured. Precision AC to DC, converters measure the magnitude of the current supplied and the voltage across the unknown impedance. To read impedance the user simply sets the frequency he requires, attaches the load to be read to the output of the oscillator, and depresses the switch marked Z. To plot a curve he simply repeats the procedure at the frequencies in question. The TS-2 has a balanced input and an unbalanced output addressed via 1/4" connectors. An overrange LED is provided when reading impedances above either 1K or 10K depending on the model. A maximum, measuring error of less than 50A is typical.
