Within the development of Precision, Tannoy engineers took full advantage of significant advances in digital speaker measuring techniques such as Klippell™ symmetry and non-linear distortion analysis, laser scanning interferometry, and acoustic CAD simulation. This, combined with our highly exacting manufacturing processes, ensures that the Precision range delivers wide bandwidth, significantly low levels of distortion, very smooth response, extremely accurate phase control, high sensitivity levels and input source flexibility. An option of two cabinet and driver sizes is offered with the Precision passive range so that a precise choice can be made to satisfy the user requirements for all listening environments and applications.

Using their own cutting edge acoustic technologies, Tannoy engineers have developed two new active monitors. The new Precision D Active range incorporates the latest Tannoy Dual Concentric™ driver and WideBand™ Technology to deliver near field monitoring speaker designs that set new standards of acoustic performance and accuracy.

Effectively two drivers properly merged into one,with the HF mounted on the back of the LF unit so that both drivers are on thesame axis, As a result sound energy is propagated from the same point anddelivered through the centre of the low frequency cone providing a true pointsource. This integrated approach provides a constant time delay over thefrequency spectrum offering better transient performance and sound qualitywith better harmonic alignment than a displaced source monitor design. Thecrucial benefit at the mix position is the delivery of a more natural andcleaner sound with greatly enhanced intelligibility.
• A key benefit of the Dual design is a very wide'sweet spot' with an exceptionally even response throughout the listening areaand extraordinary transient response. This phase accurate Tannoy designeddrive unit has, for all these reasons, been the choice of professional studioengineers for decades.
• Tannoy SuperTweeterTM extends the amplitude responsebeyond 20kHz audibility to 50kHz to correct the phase response from 8kHz to20kHz within the audible band. This preserves the harmonic structure of soundsand the stability of the stereo image.
• Smooth tweeter faceplate contours prevent diffractionand cavity effects.
• 18mm MDF cabinet construction provides stiffness andminimises colouration.
• Internal construction braces the sides and rear ofthe cabinet against the rear of the bass driver to provide a rigid reactivemass for the moving cone assembly. Ensures fast tight bass response and clearmidrange.
• Front baffle and rear panel tongued and grooved intothe cabinet as a mechanical interlock for safety if wall mounted.
• Simple foolproof gold plated terminal panel. Nodegradation due to bi-wire links in the HF signal path.
