The C 542 BL is a high-quality boundary-layer recording microphone designed to deliver superior results with tremendous ease of use. The boundary layer technique is well-known for recording and offers non-directional pickup that is frequency-independent.

The C 542 BL is small, lightweight and easy to place and no stand is needed. The transducer sits in a metal plate only 0.2 inches thick (5 mm) and 3.1 inches (80 mm) wide, so the plate doesn’t interfere with the sound. Frequency response is very uniform within its front hemisphere and it captures the “room sound’’ of an instrument very accurately. It is also superb for use on grand pianos, either for recording or sound reinforcement.

The C 542 BL can be permanently attached to the floor or wall of a studio using the screw holes in the plate or attached temporarily using the supplied adhesive compound. Its 3-pin XLR-type output connector also has a switchable bass-cut filter to minimize surface-born noise.

With its tremendous sound quality, ease of use and low price, the C 542 BL is a great addition to the “mic locker’’ of any studio.
