OUR PART # INTELLIJEL-KORG-II
Softube's Intellijel Korgasmatron II, an add-on module for use with Softube's Modular virtual synth system (sold separately), gets its inspiration from a classic Japanese synth released in the early 80s. It's a dual voltage controlled filter that can also be used as a limited oscillator, with 2 completely independent six mode filters, one on each side. The filters can be blended to taste with the Xfade knob. And though Korgasmatron II may take the name from that classic synth, it's no clone. Korgasmatron II brings much more grit and flexibility than its predecessor.
The six mode filter outputs are selected via a rotary switch. It also has a special overdrive feature that allows the output signal to be soft- or hard-clipped depending on hard you drive the input signal, controlled via the input amp which will start clipping when you position the knob past 12 o'clock (assuming an standard 10 Vpp waveform). The hard/soft clipping differences are subtle on simple waveforms sources, more dramatic on complex sources (such as chords).
And just like its hardware namesake, the Intellijel Korgasmatron II can go anywhere from precise and clean to aggressive and howling—from classic MS-20 type sounds on to new uncharted territory—all depending on how you work the front panel controls.
