Product Overview
The Blonder-Tongue HDE-4S-PRO (part of Blonder-Tongue's HDE-4S-Pro series of MPEG-2 HD Encoders with 4x HD-SDI + 1x Spare to 4x QAM + 4x IP, and the 1st-generation in their Professional MPEG-2 Encoders line), is specially designed to deliver superior motion optimization for streaming programming, such as fast-paced live sporting events. This particular model (Mfr. #6372 LL) features the low latency option for significantly reducing the encoder's operational time delay. Low latency is recommended for any applications that encode as well as distribute live programming on-site locally, for example: a sporting event within the stadium or arena venue.
This useful device accepts up to (4) HD programs via: 4x HD-SDI. Available MPEG-2 encoded outputs simultaneously employ the following formats: 4x QAM, 4x IP (1000Base-T Ethernet), and 4x ASI. For enhanced transport efficiency, it allows the operator to (i) assign (2) HD programs to a QAM output channel, and (ii) individually switch on/off each of the 4 adjacent QAM output channels.
It's compatible with Dolby® Digital and Closed Captioning (EIA-608 and EIA-708), and is also equipped with an Emergency Alert System (EAS) interface. It includes a front-panel RF test point which allows for monitoring/testing of the QAM output with no interruption of service. Additionally, comprehensive remote control and monitoring is achieved through use of any standard Web browser via a front-panel 10/100BaseT Ethernet connection.
