The Neumann KH 805/KH 120 A Bundle is a pair of 2-way, 5.25"+1", active near-field reference monitors (KH 120 A) with an analog controller, electronically-balanced input and US mains cable, combined with a 10" active studio subwoofer (KH 805) that has a 2.0 / 0.1 Bass Manager.

The KH 805 is a 10", 200-watt active studio subwoofer whose 4-mode operation is tailored for a wide variety of uses, and with much installation flexibility. It is based on the acoustic performance of the KH 810 subwoofer - also an optimal choice for stereo set-ups - and works especially well in combination with the KH 120 or KH 310 loudspeakers for tracking, mixing and mastering in recording, broadcast, or post-production studios.

The unit's solid, well-braced cabinet construction has a feature set of its own, such as extremely low tuning frequency to minimize unwanted resonance; a long excursion, low-distortion, magnetically shielded 10" driver; high efficiency, low-heat dissipation power amplification techniques, and electronics that can be remote located (REK 3) for reduced cabling and ease of use.

This subwoofer can be used as bass extension for loudspeakers down to 18 Hz, to increase the maximum SPL of loudspeakers by up to 8 dB, to decrease harmonic and intermodulation distortion of loudspeakers, to reproduce the LFE channel, to reproduce the "sub" signal of a bass managed multichannel source, to make a Plane Wave Bass Array™ system (increased low frequency linearity), or work as an extension for KH 810, KH 870 and KH 805 subwoofer systems.

The 2.0 / 0.1 Bass Manager of the KH 805 can be used for stereo and multichannel applications like bass management with 4th order, 80 Hz crossover (compatible with typical systems). It can also be bypassed using a simple switch or footswitch. Acoustic controls that contribute to installation flexibility include output level, low cut, parametric EQ, and a 45° step phase control. Last but not least, the right input connector has four routing modes: right channel bass management, LFE to subwoofer (up to 120 Hz), wide for multichannel systems where bass management is in the source and daisy chain for subwoofer arrays.

KH 120 A studio monitors are designed for use as a near-field loudspeaker or as a rear loudspeaker in larger multi-channel systems. The KH 120 A represents the latest in acoustic technologies, highlighted by its Mathematically Modeled Dispersion (MMD)™ waveguide, flexible acoustical controls, analog class-AB amplifiers, a large headroom analog input and an extensive mounting hardware range. These provide the user with maximum versatility over a wide variety of acoustic conditions, source equipment, and physical locations.

An MMD™ waveguide gives a smoother off-axis response that is more forgiving of diverse acoustical environments, and its long-throw bass driver allows for low-level distortion at high output levels. Large upfront panel ports reduce bass compression and make it easier to mount in tight spaces such as OB vans. Powerful analog amplifiers with large headroom offer an improved transient response and its wide range input gain and output level controls allow for easier interfacing with signal sources.  The KH 120 A also has 4-position bass, low-mid and treble acoustic controls for added comfort in diverse environments, and its one-piece front panel (with no discontinuities) offers reduced diffraction and a smoother frequency response. Separate woofer and tweeter peak limiters (and thermal-protection circuitry) provide high reliability. Wide horizontal and narrow vertical dispersion gives both freedom across the mixing console and reduced reflections of said console.

For production consistency, any KH 120 is "pair-matched" to any other KH 120 (ex: KH 120 A versus KH 120 D).
