OUR PART # NUENDO-7
The latest update to Steinberg's powerful Nuendo DAW software adds new tools and capabilities for TV and film post-production, game audio, and ADR applications. Nuendo 7 introduces Game Audio Connect, which is tailored towards audio production for games and integrates powerful tools to make game audio production more efficient. There are also new tools for post-production including a new re-conforming algorithm, 50fps timecode support, and VCA fader support.
Nuendo 7 also comes with updates to the user interface and workflow, such as improved window handling, which allows windows within Nuendo to be freely placed on any display and maximized, restored, minimized, tiled, and cycled through using standard key commands. The Track List and Inpsector have also been redesigned for better readability, with easier to find tack names and configuration tabs below the track list to switch instantly between different track control configurations.
Many of the plugins included with Nuendo have been updated for version 7 as well, along with some brand new just for this version. The Multiband Expander is designed for modifying the dynamic range of tracks within four separate frequency bands, while the Multiband Envelope Shaper gives you tools to re-shape the attack and release characteristics of different tracks. The VST Bass Amp plugin provides a suite of amps, cabs, and stomp boxes for recording bass tracks, and Quadrafuzz returns with version 2 for multiband distortion capabilities. New to Nuendo 7 is HALion SE 2, which is a compact version of Steinberg's HALion Sonic sample player, along with Padshop, which gives you granular synthesis capabilities in an easy-to-use interface.
Game Audio Connect
Game Audio Connect is a new interfacing technology introduced in Nuendo 7, which is tailored towards audio production workflows for games
Integration with Audiokinetic Wwise Middleware
Instead of saving audio assets piece-by-piece on the hard drive and importing them laboriously into Wwise later, Nuendo 7 saves you hours of work - simply drag-and-drop audio files including customized naming conventions such as project name, folder path, and track name via Game Audio Connect towards Wwise, avoiding time-consuming minutiae of manually configuring the import and export dialogs.
Recall a Nuendo Project from within Wwise
Save valuable production time even when going back from an audio asset in Wwise to the respective Nuendo project by simply recalling the original Nuendo project from that audio file.
Version Control by Perforce
Game Audio Connect also provides a seamless integration with Perforce - any change in the Nuendo 7 project is automatically monitored in the background, making manual interactions unnecessary.
Re-conforming for Film and TV Post-Production
If a project has been completely edited and is ready to go, but then a re-cut version from the video editor comes in, the new re-conforming algorithm in Nuendo 7 helps minimize extra work. This algorithm detects picture changes on the bases of EDL comparisons (previous and new EDL lists), which generates a change list used to perform the re-conform process. Before the process starts, Nuendo 7 provides a preview of the expected result. Severla options are available for the re-conforming process, including handling of gaps, a choice of different matching algorithms as well as several processing and marker placement options.
Rendering & File Exchange
The new render-in-place feature allows you to quickly bounce a user-defined section of multiple MIDI and/or audio parts for re-integration into your Nuendo project.
The Render Export feature exports a freely selectable selection of audio and MIDI files to a hard drive, either as separate events, as block events, or as one file. You can define exactly what the rendering process should take into account and what is ignored; this could be just the file without any effects, it could include all channel settings or even the entire signal path. In addition, the powerful naming scheme option lets you determine how the rendered audio files are named.
Advanced Project Collaboration
The new "import audio tracks from project" function (also referred to as "Import Session Data") makes it easy to transfer audio tracks including all audio events and related track data from one Nuendo project to another, without needing to even open the source project. All relevent data including plugins, routing, and automation data are transferred as well.
