The MD-HX from Decimator Design is a truly portable converter, that incorporates their easy to use LCD and button control system. This gives you easy access to all of the amazing features that have been unavailable without a computer until now. The days of having to play with annoying dip switches or having to carry around a computer to change a simple setting are gone.
The MD-HX includes the same Down Up Cross Converter from Decimator's multi‐award winning MD‐DUCC, allowing either the HDMI or SDI input to be scaled and/or frame rate converted to the required standard. The MD-HX will support both 3G level A and B.
The MD-HX features the following four modes:
1. HDMI to SDI while simultaneously converting SDI to HDMI
2. HDMI to HDMI while simultaneously converting SDI to SDI
3. HDMI to SDI and HDMI
4.SDI to SDI and HDMI

New, easy to use LCD display?! You are kidding... right? Well the LCD display works well when new. Over time the LCD display will become difficult to read. A known issue that Decimator will not acknowledge or resolve. I'll stick with other manufacturers who don't design in product failure. Oh, wait, when the LCD display is all but useless you can always bring a laptop with you to make adjustments!

a little bit tricky to set up (just need to understand that all details are vital) but very reliable and good quality output

Seems to be the go-to device these days for scaling into things like a Blackmagic switcher. Handles anything we throw at it. Take a minute to get to know the menu system though, we were confused at first because it was not scaling the output. You must tell the DUC (down/up converter) which input to use, and then tell the output to come from the scaler. (Not sure why they call it DUC in one place and Scaler in another, but seem to be same thing.) As soon as we did that it worked perfectly.
