Sound Devices' XL-K7 is a knob replacement kit for their 7-Series gain pot knobs.  The knobs feature a black indicator mark rather than the standard white coloring.

Includes:

  • 6 knobs with set screws pre-inserted
  • 1 Hex wrench

Installation:

Remove the existing knobs:

  • If the knob is recessed, push to expose it.
  • Turn the knob so that the set screw is accessible with the (included) hex wrench.
  • Using the hex wrench, rotate the set screw counter-clockwise until the knob is lose enough to slide off the shaft.  It is not necessary to
    completely remove the set screw.

Install new knobs:

  • Slide the new knob onto the pot shaft so that the set screw is oriented with the flat portion of the pot shaft.
  • Using the hex wrench, rotate the set screw clockwise, making sure that the knob is properly seated and oriented on the pot shaft.  Tighten the set screw to hand tightness (Do not use additional torque).
