Yamaha DTX900M Features:

  • High-Quality Sounds for Live Performance andRecording: The DTX900M combines Yamaha’s passion for making the best soundingacoustic drums with their extensive knowledge of digital sound technology. Notonly do you get the sounds of legendary Yamaha acoustic kits, but you also getfamous drum sounds from throughout the history of drumming including drums andcymbals from different manufacturers. These are actual samples of real drums-- not models -- so they don’t rely on heavy ambience processing to soundgood. By incorporating Xpanded Articulation technology from the MOTIF series-- which creates subtly different samples even when you strike the drum withthe same force -- you will experience more natural snare rolls and canaccurately recreate the feel of a hi-hat or ride cymbal to the finest detail. You also get a collection of highly expressive world percussion instrumentsand electronic sounds.
  • Expand Your Percussive Voice: With 512MB of SamplingMemory onboard, the DTX900M allows you to record new sounds and assign them tothe pads, or import samples via a USB memory device right out of the box. Thislets you stay current with musical trends and take advantage of the many drumlibraries available without having a computer on stage. Loading new soundsgives the casual electronic drummer fresh new tones to play with, and theadvanced user can further tweak those Voices with the DTX900M’s Voice, pad andeffects settings.
  • Stellar Digital Effects: Today’s drum productiontechniques require that the effects deserve the same attention to detail asthe drum sounds. The DTX900M has three DSP effects blocks per kit that can beconfigured to produce these sought after sounds. Yamaha's REVERB effect haspresets from the legendary SPX2000; the CHORUS features traditional effects aswell as tempo-based delays, phasers and flangers; and the VARIATION block canbe routed as either a send or insert, to recreate buss-compression -- a studiotechnique whereby compressed sounds are mixed with the “dry” signal to addpunch without squashing the expressiveness of the performance. Add up theindividual EQs for each drum and include the MASTER EFFECT and MASTER EQ andyou have all the processing needed to create killer sounding drum tracks liveor in the studio.
  • Drummer Friendly Extras: The DTX900M includes extrafeatures that drummers can really appreciate. For example, there are always 50preset kits plus 50 user kits onboard, and you may use a USB memory device tohold 1,584 additional user kits for instant recall. The popular GrooveCheck feature has been expanded to display the timing of up to 5 individualtriggers at once. There are 64 programmable “chains” that store 64 steps each, allowing you to create “set lists” and “tempo maps” for all your performanceand practice needs. Whether you need to layer, stack or alternate multiplesounds on any pad; assign user grooves to one pad and tap tempo with anotheror automatically load your samples on power-up, the DTX900M has professionalfeatures not found any other model.
  • Unmatched Playability and Feel: The useof DTX-PADs with the DTX900M allows all the nuances of expression youwant when you are “in the moment”. Yamaha's Textured Cellular Siliconeheads were designed with input from professional acoustic drummers, so theyfeel great without being too bouncy or sensitive in one area. With thereal-time control knob on the XP120SD/XP100SD, you can adjust the virtual“snares” and tighten up the sound or loosen them all the way -- essentiallyoffering you a “digital throw-off”. Of course, you can also use yourcreativity and assign throw-off Voices to have a completely new set of snaresounds or effect settings.
  • Efficient Music Creation via USB Connectivity: The DTX900M includes USB “to host” connectivity so that you can easily connect to a computer using a single USB cable (sold separately). You also get Cubase AI -- a DAW (digital audio workstation) software application from Steinberg that allows you to record, edit, and produce music from a Mac or PC. By downloading the free DTX900M Extension, you can use the front panel controls of the trigger module to control Cubase when connected via USB, allowing you to make music more efficiently. With the USB “device” port, MIDI and audio information created on the computer can be freely exchanged with the DTX900M for even more creative potential.

I've owned for many years and totally appreciate it for its many features . It has an easy learning curve and fantastic features. In particular it's midi Inplementation is huge. Besides triggering its own drums, you can add more triggers thru midi in port and choose channel and note number. Couldn't do this on the new flagship Dtx pro X. Has lots of sounds which are good. Technology is dated, no Bluetooth. Very pricy but you get alot of features including the full midi implementation.
