Product Overview

The Klover MiK KM-26 is a 26" diameter Parabolic Collector that is designed to be used as a microphone collector dish for outdoor applications such as sporting events where long-range sound pickup is required. Due to the "true" parabolic shape of the MiK 26's collector dish, all of the sound energy is focused on a single point allowing for excellent clarity and definition; for example the MiK 26 can pick up normal conversational volume at a distance of 300 feet.

With most parabolic microphones, movement between components causes the plastic dish to generate unwanted, irritating squeaking noises that are picked up by the microphone, however all of the Klover MiK connections incorporate patent pending vibration isolation components to eliminate these unwanted noises.

The construction of Klover's MiK collectors has operator safety and comfort in mind with several unique features not found elsewhere. The carbon fiber tubes found on the MiK collectors are designed to crush in to small pieces and lose all integrity when they break instead of creating the sharp edges that can occur with PVC, which helps to prevent potentially dangerous situations while in the field. For additional protection, all protruding studs have been removed from the front of the dish as well.

Along with the safety features of the carbon fiber tubing used on these collectors, the lighter weight of the carbon fiber also helps reduce operator fatigue. In addtion, the handle provides two grip positions, allowing the operator to alternate hand positions to reduce fatigue, and also allows the grip to be closer to the center of gravity of the dish.

Since the possibility of damage is ever-present for a parabolic microphone operator in the field, Klover's MiK collectors have been designed to be modular, meaning that only the components that have been damaged will need to be replaced, allowing for a faster turnaround time to get your microphone back up and running. The handles and microphone yoke are also designed to protect the collector dish from damage.

The Klover MiK can be assembled and disassembled in just seconds, which saves time and money. The modules that make up the Klover MiK are connected using durable, easy-to-operate, quick-release connectors. The neck strap is attached using quick release buckles and can be quickly adjusted by the operator using Cam operated adjusters. Zip tie slots are also provided for securing electronic equipment and cables. The Klover MiK's collector dish is designed to be stacked so they can be transported without scratching the critical internal surface.
