The Shure ULX2/SM86-J1 is an ULX Series wireless handheld transmitter with an SM86 cardioid condenser capsule that operates in the 554 - 589 MHz UHF wireless frequency range. The transmitter features a 3-segment battery fuel guage, backlit LCD that shows group and channel, frequency and power settings, control lockout, 8 hour battery life, and a 300 ft (92 m) operating range.

The SM86 cardioid condenser capsule provides a tailored frequency response for clear reproduction of vocals and features a built-in three-point shock mount and two-stage pop filter.
