CAD Audio's Astatic 827A is a miniature electret condenser cardioid microphone, permanently attached to an ultra-slim gooseneck, with built-in circuitry for phantom powering. The 827A has a controlled low frequency roll off, smooth mid-range, and slightly peaked upper range to give a "natural" sound in all applications requiring voice reproduction. A superior and uniform unidirectional pattern minimizes feedback, reverberation, off-axis coloration, background noise and placement problems.
The 827A has an extremely durable satin black finish and comes with a 17" gooseneck. This unobtrusive gooseneck microphone, with a permanently charged diaphragm providing stability, long life and high impact strength, is ruggedly constructed to provide years of dependable service.
The 827A is supplied with a miniature windscreen to control wind noise and breath "pop" during close talk situation and an A3M connector at the equipment end of the gooseneck.

This is an excellent balanced XLR Electret Mic. The gooseneck is slim/sexy (aesthetic) and completely flexible. I had to modify the internal circuitry by removing the audio transformer to increase the gain of a single mic input to the aviation radio I was using it with. The internal circuitry is designed to bias the electret capsule with 9-52VDC phantom power, so it was well suited to 12V aircraft power with little current draw. Sound quality is good in the somewhat noisy airborne environment.
