This is the real deal for the transducer foam disc. On very old mics the old foam always turns to sonically bad goo. While you're at it, get a pile of the inner grill foam too.

The foam pad for the mic element fits just fine. It is held in place only by slight friction against the plastic pins around the edge of the mic element cover. The pad stays in place, but could easily be knocked loose if the mic were to be bumped. It may have been the same way with the original pad. I don't know if the factory uses an adhesive.

This pad fit my mic perfectly. I own two Radio Shack high ball dynamic mics made by Shure. They are a copy of the sm58. I purchased them back in the 80's and the foam was completly descinagrated. This pad fit the top of the mic element perfectly. I had to mark and cut tiney slits around the edge for the raised fins on the top of the element. Then i glued it in place with foam edge surround repair glue i had left over from another project. I applied the glue with the tip of a tooth pic.
